1. Clean up All Debris
After winter storms have knocked down branches and blown leaves and debris into your harm, your first task for improving the appearance of your yard is to clean it all up. However, if you are unsure whether or not a branch is dead, wait until you start seeing new leaves. If none are found on a branch, you can cut it off without harming the plant.
After cutting out any dead matter, trim the edges of any branches or stems that are growing in disarray. Again, do this right before they spring to life to prevent damaging them.
